Se7en for CL Raven
One of my Twitter crushes, the lovely Welsh duo C.L. Raven, has challenged me to a little blog/writing game. They’ve dubbed it Se7en, and since that is my second favorite movie, I simply can’t resist.
The challenge is as follows:
Go to page 7 or 77 of your manuscript. Go to the 7th line down then copy and paste the next 7 lines into your blog. Then tag 7 other people and ask them to do the same.
Because I’m an over-achiever, here are TWO:
The first is the seven lines of my upcoming Paranormal Romance Fire and Flame (with The Wild Rose Press)
Sara cast her eyes around the room as if to say this was private.
He caught her unspoken meaning. “Someplace where you control the doors.”
If he wanted absolute privacy then he planned to discuss things vanilla humans couldn’t hear. Sara took a closer look at him, noting his rigid stance, tightly drawn mouth and heavy eyes. Brent was unhappy, that much was obvious. But it was more than resentment for being sent on this errand. Any other day he would have insulted her several times by now.
Something was wrong.
The second is the seven lines from the first book in a series I may never publish (it’s that one book you love so much that it’s never good enough). It’s called The Only Sorceress.
“Cerulean,” I repeated. “A deep sky-blue color.” I gestured to my hair. “Cerulean.”
“Can you use it in a sentence for me?”
Oh, look at that grin. He thought he was funny. I wasn’t laughing.
I snapped my palms closed twice in a grabby gesture. “Can I have my box back now before the rest of the stuff in the trailer gets stolen?”
“They’re fine,” he refuted despite stepping forward to put the box on my stack in the center of the empty room. “I’ve been listening.”
I challenge @CovertAlias (images on sidebar NSFW), @HolleyTrent, @ThatPanicGirleE, @MariStroud, @karenbbooth, @kendallgrey1 (she’s busy with RT2012 but visit her anyway), & @Literarygrrrl to do the same! (Click their names for their blog posts or see comments below for @Literarygrrrl)
