The Next Big Thing
My Twitter crushes C L Raven tagged me on this “Next Big Thing” post. I’ve got to do ten questions about my current work in progress, and then tag five other writers who will tell me all about their current WIPs. I’ll make that last bit voluntarily because I’m not so good at the whole tagging people thing. *bats her lashes at her author buds*
Anyway, here are mine:
What is the working title of your book?
Where did the idea come from for the book?
Strangely enough the idea came from a combination of two divergent things. The first was a trailer for that Liam Neeson flick Taken where his daughter is, well, taken. And for a historical romance I was reading at the time about a Russian mobster with a heart of gold helping a gal get her sister back. In both cases human trafficking was involved. This story is not about human trafficking, however.
I took the ideas, put it in my universe and gave it my own spin.
What genre does your book fall under?
Paranormal erotic romance
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Oh cripes. I should have read these questions before I dove into it. Um, well the gal I used for Samantha is actually an actor. *looks it up* Alison Smyth. Dion…well, you’ll just have to wait until I feature him as a Friday Hottie 😉
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
I’m going to cheat here and give THREE sentences. Here’s the hook I sent into EC:
Last year Air witch Samantha Avira insulted the weretiger Alpha in front of the city’s Underground. Now he may be the only one who can help her find her missing sister. But Sam doesn’t know if she’s willing to pay his price: sex with him in public to restore his reputation.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
Ellora’s Cave is publishing it.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
This one took me about two and a half months to write the first draft. As I recall, I stalled out about a third of the way through and then picked it back up.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
*cringes* I’ve never read a paranormal erotic romance. I really don’t know. Sorry :/
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
I saw the call for “Hex Appeal” manuscripts on Ellora’s Cave’s web site. I’d just finished writing my (yet unreleased) Sorceress series as well as my second book in the Randy’s Diner series, this is a mesh of the two–an erotic piece in a paranormal universe.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
It has witches, a hot weretiger Alpha and public sex. If that doesn’t pique your interest, then I don’t know what will 😉
